Scott W. Farley has more than 25 years of leadership experience building and running mortgage banking branches. An accomplished corporate strategist and marketer, his vision and expertise in business performance have driven notable enterprise growth in the retail, wholesale, builder and direct to the consumer sectors. Farley is responsible for driving many of the company’s strategic initiatives in addition to the operational oversight.
Offering a rare blend of creative and operational strengths, Farley has achieved exciting company and branch turnarounds and is recognized for his success in growing sales and profits. His strategic approach to building a business is reflected most recently in his work as Regional Manager of American Bancorp, a division of Colorado Federal Savings Bank, and previously as Retail Manager for Charter Funding of Hawaii. His turnaround capability is highlighted by his accomplishments as Assistant Vice President and Branch Manager of the Hammond Company, the Mortgage Bankers where he led a distressed branch to record profitability through brand revitalization that included major shifts in brand strategy, operations, product delivery, marketing communications, and as lead lender for Schuler Homes of Hawaii.

Shawn Kelly joined Mann Mortgage in October of 2011 and currently serves as Branch Sales Manager, overseeing the Oahu and outer island sales efforts for the company’s four branches. Kelly led the growth of the Honolulu Branch from 5 employees to 45, increasing their gross sales from $65 million in 2011 to $210 million in 2012. The Honolulu branch was named #1 branch company-wide for 2012 by Mann Mortgage LLC, which operates 38 branches in a 13 state area. Growth continues with production on track to exceed $300 million in 2013. Purchase growth at the Honolulu branch achieved record highs, making up 48% of volume despite a large refinance volume due to exceptional lending rates.
Kelly is responsible for driving many of the company’s strategic initiatives in addition to the sales oversight. He has been active in the local mortgage banking field since 1993. In 1997 he co-founded Pacific Financial and Mortgage / Applied Wholesale Mortgage where he managed originations, Operations and the sale of closed loans for the company’s business operations in Honolulu and Southern California. At the same time, he co-founded a Real Estate company: Premier Realty 2000, bringing a depth of industry knowledge in both operations and management to his role.
In 2004, Kelly joined Countrywide Home Loans as Honolulu Operations Manager, one of the largest branches in the country, and shortly thereafter became Branch Manager. He managed a sales force in excess of 30 Loan Officers. He oversaw the opening of the first Joint Ventures with key developers and Realtors and expanded the branch into neighbor islands. Kelly joined Bank of America Home Loans after the Countrywide acquisition. Under his leadership, the branch grew to a Top 20 producing branch in the nationwide Bank of America system (over 300 branches) with $300 million in annual sales and held the companywide honor of being the largest lending branch in a non-Bank of America state (no bank branches). Kelly is known for a can-do attitude, unrelenting drive, and strongly supports his sales team ensuring the latest, best tools and programs are available to their customers.
Kelly holds certifications as a Certified Builder Rep and Multi-Cultural Markets Specialist. He had served on the Board of Directors for Hawaii Association of Mortgage Brokers (HAMB) for 3 years (is currently a member) and is serving his third year on the Board of Directors for the Mortgage Bankers Association of Hawaii (MBAH) and is a member of the Mortgage Bankers Association. In addition, he is currently serving a 3-year board term as Director for Waikiki Yacht Club. Kelly studied Finance at Virginia Tech, in Blacksburg, VA and is a former Marine.
Susan Gonsalves, Operations Manager with Mann Mortgage, has been in the mortgage banking industry for 25 years. Based in the Kapolei branch, her current responsibilities include oversight of all of the Hawaii-based underwriting and processing staff.
Gonsalves brings a keen understanding to her position, having started from the ground up. She has processed, underwritten, closed, and funded loans for several companies before entering into management. She held a California Real Estate License and Appraiser’s license for residential property earlier in her career, so she is no stranger to the inner workings of various counterparts of the business. This breadth of knowledge enables her to run a well-versed and highly-informed shop, pulling the best technologies together with the vast array of lending products available at Mann Mortgage.
With management experience over the past 12 years, she has worked for GMAC for 11 years in three different states (California, Florida, and Hawaii). As a District Operations Manager, she was brought to Hawaii from Florida to open the loan center in Kailua. At her center, she built a staff that achieved one of the highest productivity ratings in the company. In the same capacity at First Horizon Home Loans, she not only managed the retail operation, but also added wholesale operations to her wheelhouse. After several years in Operations there, Gonsalves joined Pacific Access Mortgage as a Loan Officer. She worked out of the Coldwell Banker office in Kailua and learned what it was like to originate and be on the front lines of the business.
Gonsalves joined American Savings Bank when she was given the opportunity to manage Quality Control, and most recently assisted with managing Operations in their Mortgage Division. She was a part of the team who grew it from a $30 million a month shop to a $100 million shop. There, she worked closely with Servicing, Compliance, and Quality Control.

Roland has over 20 years of industry experience. His experience encompasses all aspects of mortgage lending including running his own mortgage company, Mortgage Connections, Inc. Roland is a recognized expert in his field and has held a number of positions of distinction including, President of the Hawaii Mortgage Brokers Association and President of the Western Regional Mortgage Brokers Conference. Roland’s vast experience and expertise allow both borrowers and business associates to enjoy a smooth and timely loan process.
Roland is originally from New York City. He is a graduate of the State University of New York-Albany, University of Michigan and Chaminade University. Roland moved to Hawaii in 1986 and worked for Hawaiian Telephone Company and Hawaiian Electric Company before becoming involved in mortgage lending.

Gil Riviere, Senior Loan Officer, works with Mann from a virtual office on the North Shore and has been in the mortgage lending industry for nearly 25 years. Spending the beginning decade of his career as a mortgage solicitor for various lenders, Riviere then decided to open his own Waialua-based mortgage brokerage in 2001, Town & Country Mortgage. Subscribing to the highest ethical standards and training, he is a member of both the Hawaii and National Associations of Mortgage Brokers.
As a former small business owner, Riviere has an intimate knowledge of the costs of doing business in Hawaii and supports lower taxes for residents and businesses. Riviere is also a former member of the Hawaii House of Representatives. He has represented District 46 and has served as House Minority Whip since 2011. He also serves as president of Keep the North Shore Country, an advocacy organization that seeks to “preserve … the heritage and rural character of the North Shore of Oahu.” Riviere also represents Waialua on the North Shore Neighborhood Board and served as president of the Waialua Little League. He is also active with the North Shore Chamber of Commerce.

Pamela Barros, Senior Loan Officer, is in Mann Mortgage’s downtown branch. She has been in the mortgage business over 30 years and a loan officer for 24 years. Prior to Mann, she was with Colorado Federal Savings Bank’s Honolulu branch.
She enjoys working with first time homebuyers and VA buyers. The excitement of purchasing a new home, teaching the homebuyer what options they may have, communicating what the borrower needs to know and understand is what Pam enjoys most. Barros says of her role: “My job is to find the product that will suit the needs of the borrower, whether it be 100% financing or a loan with down payment, and give the borrower an option of which program meets their individual needs. I try to insure that the borrower understands the product: FHLMC/FNMA, VA, UDSA or FHA. When they understand how their loan works and the advantages they have, and at closing understand what they are signing. Each borrower is unique like a fingerprint. Everyone has individual goals, different savings and credit habits so meeting and understanding each borrower’s long term goals are important. Keeping in close contact with the borrower during the transaction can make the transaction fun. At the end of the transaction you get to make a family happy, it is a wonderful job.” Barros graduated from Central Washington State University, Ellensburg, WA, with a bachelor of art degree in education.

Joel Kurata, loan officer at the Mann Mortgage Kahala office, enjoys working with first time home buyers to help them cut through the clutter and noise in the mortgage marketplace so they can quickly and efficiently find the loan product that is best for them. He also enjoys the challenge of helping investors finance or refinance their properties, which can be very complex in today’s market.
Kurata was born and raised in Hawaii and matriculated from Hawaii Baptist Academy. He is a federally licensed and Hawaii State licensed mortgage loan originator. Kurata brings with him a strong finance background allowing him to better advise and serve his clients. He has experience in the public accounting industry with Wachi & Watanabe CPA (taxation) and Deloitte & Touche (auditing) and holds a current CPA license. He earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in accounting from the University of Washington with a graduate school focus on auditing.
